The Lisbon Board of Education Legislative Committee met June 1 in Room 36 at LCS and planned a regional meeting for June 30 to discuss the admission process for technical high schools and increased state funding for education.
Legislative Committee member Judy Jencks reviewed a letter sent to other board chairs in the area inviting them to the June 30 meeting at LCS and noting that politicians and representatives from CABE would also be invited. Committee members identified two principal topics for that session: the admissions process for technical high schools and strategies to pursue increased state school funding.
Committee members then brainstormed the data and materials needed to inform discussions on June 30. The committee agreed that once the requested data is collected it will be sent to Judy Jencks and Joe Lewerk. Committee member Joe Lewerk was assigned to prepare a PowerPoint presentation for the meeting based on the assembled data.
The committee called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. and adjourned at 5:30 p.m. The next Legislative Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16 at 3:30 p.m. in Room 36 at LCS. The June 30 regional meeting location is LCS; the agenda topics and invited participants were recorded in the committee minutes.
