Council approves design amendment for 39 Depot and final change order for Cane Creek Park

Cookeville city staff on June 4 asked the council to approve two infrastructure items: an amendment to the professional-services agreement for the 39 Depot master plan and a final balance change order for Cane Creek Park.
Staff said the latest parking-lot design for the 39 Depot (Vista Mills) increased the planned spaces to about 252 (from an earlier design of roughly 192) and that the amendment would add $20,500 and six weeks to the existing contract, bringing the contract total for phases 1 and 2 to $450,500. The council authorized the amendment by voice vote (5-0).
On Cane Creek Park, staff reported the splash pad, playground, parking lot and sidewalks are substantially complete. Three change orders resulted in a net increase of $4,600 to the general-contractor portion of the contract; staff said the project remains under its $876,000 budget. The council approved the final balance change order (5-0). Staff said restroom construction will continue and estimated an 8–10 week timeline for that work.
Both approvals clear the way for final design and closeout steps; staff said the 39 Depot plan and Cane Creek Park finalization will return in later agenda items related to bidding and construction authorization.
