Buffalo County approves payroll, vendor claims, $700,000 transfer to Road Fund and multiple licenses

At its May 26 meeting, the Buffalo County Board of Commissioners approved routine but substantive financial and administrative items across several motions.
The Board ratified May 15 payroll claims and approved an extensive list of May vendor claims spanning the General, Road, Weed and other funds. It also approved a budget transfer of $700,000 from the General Fund (0100) to the Road Fund (0200). Two separate motions added pledged collateral for the Buffalo County Treasurer at Firstier Bank in amounts of $22,516.86 and $2,895.53.
The Board authorized the Chairperson’s signature on a ballot for the Nebraska Regional Interoperability Network (NRIN) Board of Directors (South Central Region). The Board acknowledged receipt of the Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska April 2026 RYDE report (one commissioner abstained from that acknowledgement).
On liquor and event licensing, the Board ratified a Special Designated License for Stockman’s Bar and Grill for a May 23 event and approved Special Designated Licenses for Kearney Investment Corp. and The Wandering Well at Knobel Barn for June 25 and June 5 events, respectively. The Board also approved a manager application for Alice Rabbe in connection with the Gibbon Valley View Golf Course liquor license.
All motions passed on roll call among Commissioners Klein, Kouba, Lynch, Maendele and Morrow. Absent were Commissioners Higgins and Loeffelholz.
