Millis Select Board approves appointments, outdoor-dining request and water/sewer commitments; moves to executive session

The Town of Millis Select Board on Monday approved a slate of routine administrative matters including appointments, an outdoor-dining plan, water and sewer commitments, and a motion to enter executive session.
Appointments: The board unanimously ratified the Recreation Department's recommended lead and youth counselors for the summer Get Out & Play program and appointed Emily Bernier and Jim Sbeitis to the Millis Cultural Council through June 2028.
Outdoor dining: The board reviewed an application from 36 Pub, LLC (d/b/a Arigna Irish Pub and Coal Fire Kitchen) to add outdoor seating (six 4-top tables and one 2-top table, maximum 26 seats) and authorized the town to forward an amendment of premises to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) so alcohol service can extend to the outdoor area. One board member recused from the vote due to landlord status; the motion carried unanimously among voting members.
Water and sewer commitments: Town Administrator Mike Kaczynski recommended and the board approved the May 2026 water/sewer commitment for the collector totaling $2,668.91 and approved the FY'26 fourth-quarter water/sewer commitment totaling $984,878.29.
Minutes and procedural matters: The board approved draft minutes from April 27, 2026.
Executive session: The board voted to enter executive session to discuss strategy for contract negotiations with union personnel (AFSCME Council 93) and to consider the purchase, exchange or lease of real property (discussion referenced "61 a property"); the board took a roll-call vote and approved entering executive session, returning only to adjourn.
The board also set its next meeting date for June 15.
