Council approves yield-signs, voluntary annexation and consent agenda

The Marion City Council approved several items by voice vote in its June 4 meeting, including a consent agenda, two traffic-resolving yield-sign resolutions and a voluntary annexation of a segment of Tower Terrace Road.

A council member moved and seconded approval of the consent agenda (items a1–e2, resolutions 32856–32874). The record shows the council approved the consent agenda; a later motion recorded the consent agenda as approved with one abstention from the mayor (the meeting record identified Mayor Abu Asali as present earlier in roll call).

On traffic measures, the council removed resolution 32589 from the table and approved a yield sign for eastbound traffic on 12th Avenue at 12th Street. The council also removed resolution 32590 from the table and approved a yield sign for westbound traffic at the same intersection; public works/TAC staff (Mike) said that although shrubbery that had prompted the petition had been removed, parked cars still restrict sight lines and TAC recommended the signs.

On land use, city staff (Nicole) presented a 100% voluntary annexation request for the Tower Terrace Road right-of-way between Meadow Knoles Road and Alburnett Road (just over 15 acres). Staff said annexing the right-of-way will place the ROW inside city limits for permitting, noting the segment is already plowed by public works and included in the city's snow-and-ice program. The council approved resolution 32877 to annex the ROW.
