Residents raised several maintenance, access and safety concerns for the city's parks and trails. A neighbor said West Floyd Park, especially around the Frisbee golf course, has not been cleaned since last year's flood and urged a modest cleanup: "a little sprucing up" and replacement of wood chips so the area matches other parks and can host planned tournaments.
Another resident proposed opening areas south of Highway 3 and west of the Floyd River for ATV use, saying the land is currently unused. Other participants cautioned that access is constrained because the river has shifted and much of the route runs across private property; they said the city would need to contact landowners before pursuing the idea.
A resident also reported what they described as someone dumping grass clippings into Willow Creek along the bike trail west from Fourth Street, calling it a recurring odor and maintenance issue.
Safety concern at trailhead: A committee member reported a storm sewer outlet at the trailhead near the wastewater treatment facility off Highway 3 is undermined and has "some serious drop off," and said it "should be checked out" and packed to prevent a collapse or hazard to trail users.
What happens next: Participants urged staff follow-up on cleanup, enforcement of dumping rules and a safety inspection of the undermined outlet. No formal motions were made on these items; the meeting adjourned after the items were raised.
