Select Board approves Phoenix Theatres license transfer; company outlines renovations and affordable pricing

The Foxborough Select Board approved the transfer of an on-premise all-alcohol license from Showcase Cinemas to Phoenix Theatres, which presented renovation plans and a proposed operations model for the Patriot Place movie theater.
Tom Miller, attorney for the applicant, introduced Phoenix's team and said the operator will modernize auditoriums, upgrade sound to Dolby Atmos and add new projection equipment. Corey Jacobson, owner of Phoenix Theatres, said the company plans to keep pricing intentionally moderate: "$10 is our top evening ticket price, $8 for matinees, and $7 for kids and seniors." He told the board the goal is to encourage frequent local attendance.
Phoenix also described a lobby tap wall concept and a full-service bar upstairs that would serve hard alcohol; the tap wall will offer beer, seltzers and wine with card-based controls. Miller said the applicant provided an operations and security plan and that the proposed manager of record, Derek Almeda, is over 21, a U.S. citizen and TIP-certified.
Board members asked about food service, where Phoenix said patrons will be able to take food and drinks to seats, and about the tap wall's product mix; company representatives said the tap wall will include beer and seltzer and that hard liquor will be limited to the upstairs bar.
The board closed the public hearing and approved the license transfer by voice vote. Phoenix representatives said they hope to hold an opening event around June 30 and target a July 1 public opening for a major release.
