Calhoun County supervisors approve dust control policy, probationary pay increase and conduct budget workshop

At a March 3, 2026 meeting in Rockwell City, the Calhoun County Board of Supervisors approved several routine actions, heard department updates and held a budget workshop.
The board approved a probationary pay increase for Shelby Campbell in the facilities department, effective Feb. 22, 2026. The motion was made by Supervisor Cory Ridgely, seconded by Vice Chairman Dave George and passed unanimously.
County Engineer Nick Buse presented department updates and the board approved a Dust Control Policy on a motion by Dave George, seconded by Cory Ridgely; the motion passed with all supervisors voting aye. Sheriff Pat Riley presented updates and discussed the Sheriff’s Office budget with the board; no formal budget vote was recorded at this meeting.
The board also took part in a teleconference with Pocahontas County regarding a 2026 aquatic vegetation spray quote for joint drainage district 37-35; the meeting minutes direct readers to the Auditor’s Office for full details. A budget workshop followed. The meeting adjourned with a motion by Cory Ridgely to reconvene on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
Other routine procedural motions during the session included approval of the meeting agenda (motion by Dave George, second by Cory Ridgely) and approval of the Feb. 24, 2026 minutes (motion by Dave George, second by Scott Jacobs); both passed unanimously.
