At a facilities committee meeting, staff recommended two near‑term maintenance contracts and the removal of three unused vehicles from district assets; the committee voted by voice to forward those recommendations to the full board.
Presenter said the district has a Superheat quote of $24,933.07 to replace eight failed isolation valves in South High School’s boiler room, noting the work is budgeted in maintenance and should occur this summer to avoid draining and replacing about 8,000 gallons of glycol. “All 8 have failed,” the Presenter said, and staff recommended completing the valve replacements promptly to avoid costly glycol loss.
Presenter also recommended contracting Henry’s Generator Service (formerly Critical Systems) to perform load‑bank and fuel testing on district generators for about $24,864, saying code updates since 2019 mean the district should both perform testing now and plan for an eventual RFP.
On asset disposal, Presenter proposed posting a dump truck, box truck and bucket truck for sale on municipal sites to recoup value; if unsold, staff said it would scrap the vehicles. The box truck was noted to have roughly 370,000 miles; scrap and private‑sale value ranges were discussed.
The Chair moved to recommend the Superheat valve replacement, the Henry’s generator service, the disposal of the three vehicles, and to forward CHA invoices and applications for payment for boiler work to the board. Members voiced assent and the Chair stated the items will be recommended to the board.
Next steps: staff will forward quotes and payment applications to the board and proceed with procurement or disposal actions consistent with board approval and district procurement policies.
