The Charlestown Township Environmental Advisory Committee on Jan. 12 confirmed several outreach and event items: staffing a table at the July 18 semiquincentennial celebration, finalizing an EAC logo that will include the township website, and expanding volunteer recruitment for scheduled road cleanups.
Chair Carol Armstrong and Jill Green will contact potential designers to finalize the EAC logo and Green will forward six months of 2026 events to Heleniak for calendar posting. The committee agreed to place flyers on the exterior of mailboxes and at the post office and to contact Keep PA Beautiful and other groups to recruit volunteers. Walker will request that signage for the April 11, 2026 road cleanup be posted on the township website and will email Linda Csete to request space for a Nature News excerpt in the next township newsletter (noted newsletter deadlines: Jan. 15, Apr. 15, Jul. 15, Oct. 15).
The committee also assigned communications tasks: Jill Green and Faith Talnack are creating a media contact page for EAC event outreach. In liaison updates, Talnack agreed to serve as the EAC liaison to Parks & Rec; Green reported Board of Supervisors highlights, Walker reported Planning Commission activity that includes review of ordinances related to the East Whiteland Data Center, and Armstrong reported on Parks & Rec reconstitution.
Why it matters: The outreach items consolidate EAC public engagement for volunteer-driven conservation efforts and community events; consolidating a logo and web presence aims to make EAC resources easier for residents to find.
Next steps: Armstrong and Green will pursue designers and finalize the logo; Walker will arrange website signage for the April cleanup and contact township staff for newsletter placement; Green and Talnack will complete a media contact list for event outreach.
