At the May 18 meeting the Erie County Commissioners opened competitive bids for HVAC work at the Juvenile Justice Center.
Purchasing Coordinator Emily Galloway announced a plumbing bid from North Bay Construction for $159,465 (estimate $156,942). She then opened general HVAC bids: Best Commercial Energy Services bid $1,105,000 and Gundlach Sheet Metal bid $1,104,225 (estimate $1,007,008). On motions by Commissioner Old with seconds from Commissioner Shoffner, the board received the bids and referred them to the Director of Facilities and the Purchasing Department for review and recommendation back to the board (Roll Call: All Aye).
No award decision was made at the meeting; staff are expected to evaluate bids against specifications and return with a recommendation for award or rejection.
