Erie County approves one-year renewal with Republic Services for trash and recycling

The Erie County Commissioners voted unanimously May 18 to adopt Addendum #2 to the county's agreement with Republic Services (formerly Allied Waste Services), renewing trash collection, disposal and recycling services for one year from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027.
Commissioner Shoffner moved to adopt the addendum and Commissioner Old seconded; the motion carried on a roll call of All Aye. The resolution is recorded as #26-141 in the commissioners' docket.
County officials said the addendum continues the existing service arrangement with Republic Services; the board did not discuss changes to service levels or rates during the public motion and referral. The board referred contract administration and any next steps to the appropriate county departments for implementation and oversight.
The meeting also included other routine procurement and budget items. The board recessed into an Investment Board meeting and later reconvened before completing the rest of the agenda. The session adjourned at 10:32 a.m.
