The Evanston City Council approved Resolution 26‑20 to enter into an operating agreement with the Evanston Parks and Recreation District for management and regulation of recreation services within the city for fiscal year 2027. Councilors said the agreement is largely unchanged from prior years aside from updated dates and commended Parks & Rec staff for their work maintaining green spaces.
A councilor introduced the resolution for discussion and council members noted the agreement lists routine responsibilities the district performs across city green spaces. After brief praise for the department’s efforts, the council moved, seconded and voted to approve the resolution.
What happens next: The operating agreement takes effect for FY2027 implementation and staff will continue to coordinate with the parks district under the terms agreed by the council.
