Chair (S1) announced that the Athens in Motion Commission will host a public event called "Pedals and Pathways Mobility Mixer" on Wednesday, May 6, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and a program running until 7:30 p.m. The event will include a short presentation and space for partner tables and public engagement.
"It will be called Pedals and Pathways Mobility Mixer — State of alternative transportation in Athens," the chair said, describing the event as focused on sidewalks, bike lanes, trails and transit and asking commissioners to help staff and attendees on the night.
Staff confirmed Bike Athens as a partner and that Authentic has agreed to provide event support; the commission discussed contingencies for an outdoor band and indoor audiovisual arrangements. Planners expect roughly 75 people for a prioritized, tabled meal for official representatives and staff and general public access for other attendees.
Commissioners assigned table and float responsibilities (Aaron, Gabriela and Art at the table; others to help as needed) and discussed promotional materials — flyers, a quick press release and limited targeted media outreach — to reach both community stakeholders and broader public audiences.
The commission also asked staff to circulate a simple sign‑up or reply form to confirm tables and estimated headcount, and agreed to finalize catering and logistics about two weeks before the event. The chair said staff would follow up with an event planning meeting after this session.
The meeting moved on to the next agenda item after commissioners confirmed volunteer roles and promotional ownership.
