Board members discussed two agreements at the June 2 meeting and deferred voting pending review. A committee member introduced an MOA to provide field experience, observations, pre-student teaching and student teachers (listed as attachment 1); the member and others assumed the solicitor has reviewed the document, though one staff member said they had not yet provided feedback and the solicitor’s review was to occur before the vote.
Separately, the board reviewed a renewal letter of agreement (attachment 2) with the intermediate unit (IU) to provide social–life skills support, counseling and educational services incorporated into district programming; the member summarized the agreement’s daily breakdowns and said the document was lengthy and would be available for board study before the voting meeting.
Why it matters: Agreements that allow student-teacher placements and IU-provided counseling/supports affect how the district staffs placements and provides services to students. The board did not take a formal vote on these items at this meeting and asked members to study the attachments before the next (voting) meeting.
