Marie Gress, director of Washtenaw Area Value Express (WAVE), presented the transit agency’s 2025 service report to the Chelsea City Council on April 27, outlining ridership, routes and budgeting and asking the city to consider one of three possible funding options.
Gress played a promotional video developed with D&B Marketing and described service highlights that included fixed routes and demand-response trips that serve the Western Washtenaw region. She said the funding request would sustain or expand service levels and asked council members to consider municipal support at a level to be selected by the City.
Council members asked for additional financial detail and operational data before making any commitment. No vote or funding decision was taken; council members directed staff to return with more information that would clarify budget impacts and specific program levels.
The presentation was part of the Council’s regular meeting; the request will return to a future agenda once staff compiles the requested budget scenarios and service implications.
