Operators report big weekend at Holding Point BMX; board discusses safety, insurance and resealing

Bill Rapalee of Parks and Recreation said he applies for county grants to help pay for materials.
Council members asked for details on number and origin of riders, whether recent races were qualifiers, frequency of state-level events, insurance and staffing requirements, and suggested creating an inspection log to document maintenance and safety checks in case of litigation. The board discussed reviewing liability and insurance with NYMIR (New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal) and refining any needed town regulations for park facility use.
No formal action or ordinance was adopted at the meeting; the discussion focused on operator responsibilities, risk mitigation, and potential administrative changes to ensure safety and consistent access for local residents.
