Arcadia adopts 2025 Urban Water Management Plan; council names new committee members

Arcadia — At its June 3 meeting the City Council adopted the City of Arcadia’s 2025 Urban Water Management Plan and associated Water Shortage Contingency Plan, and appointed a slate of volunteers to several advisory committees.

Director Sinkhorn summarized key elements of the plan, which is required every five years for water suppliers serving more than 3,000 customers. He said Arcadia is currently using roughly 50% of its water rights and that Ruth Lake (Upper Mad River source) was at about 98% capacity. The plan reports average city water use at 77 gallons per capita per day in 2025, well below the 2020 target of 113 gallons per capita per day.

The hearing produced one public commenter praising the city’s regular review of water contingency arrangements and urging continued attention to emergency readiness. The council then approved Resolution No. 25665 by motion and second; staff will file the adopted plan with the state before the July deadline.

During new business the council appointed members to the energy committee, forest management committee and wetlands & creeks committee (terms ranging from 09/30/2027–03/31/2029). Council welcomed the volunteers and thanked applicants for serving the community.

What’s next: adopted plan will be submitted to state agencies; committee appointees will be notified and begin their terms.
