The Cohoes Zoning Board of Appeals approved a request on May 27, 2026, to allow a deck to be built 7 feet from the side property line at 90 Linda Avenue, granting the 3-foot relief required under the R-1 zoning district.
Owner Dawn Pasquarell told the board she purchased the house in October, installed an above-ground pool with a permit, and seeks a surrounding deck; yard constraints and an existing garage and six-foot fence make alternative placements impractical, she said. Pasquarell told the board she "can't wait to get in" the new pool and deck.
Board members found the proposed deck would not be visible from the street, would be blocked from neighboring yards by existing structures and fencing, and judged the requested relief insubstantial. No public comments were submitted. Member Ron LaBarr moved to approve the 3-foot side-setback relief; Member Mark Cotch seconded the motion, which carried unanimously (Kusaywa, Cotch, LaBarr, Duncan). The board noted that required building permits and inspections would still be necessary for the deck and pool.
