CPMT reviews OCS guidance, schedules CANS and Service Planning training and reiterates family engagement requirements

Members of the Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team reviewed Office of Children's Services administrative memoranda and training resources and were briefed on upcoming staff training.

The meeting packet included OCS Administrative Memorandum #25-06 (updated definitions for CSA mandate types), #25-07 (changes to the CSA local allocation and supplemental process for FY2026), and #25-08 (strategic planning resources and templates). The coordinator highlighted a CANS and Service Planning training session for case managers and workers scheduled for May 20, 2025, and said the training is intended to improve completion of the CANS, initial IFSPs and IFSP reviews and to document family engagement steps required under the county's Quality Improvement Plan.

The coordinator also reiterated requirements from the Code of Virginia (Title 2.2, Chapter 52) that families and providers who use CSA funding must participate in the Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) process and that CPMT approval is required prior to the start of services using CSA funds. The coordinator said these requirements were reiterated in an email to case managers and CPMT members on May 8, 2025, and that the reminders were included in the meeting packet.

The coordinator reported submission of the Tazewell County FY2025 CSA Service Gap Survey on May 13, 2025; four FAPT members and nine CPMT members participated in completing the survey, which is due May 30, 2025. The packet also showed the county's Quality Improvement Plan linkage to the training and the 2025–2026 self-assessment.

Members reviewed the OCS June 2025 Training Calendar. No community announcements were made.
