The Town Board voted Sept. 4 to set a public hearing on a proposed local law to amend the noise ordinance and restore an exemption that would allow golf clubs to use certain power tools before 8 a.m.
Mr. Maker (speaker 4) explained the change was meant to restore language inadvertently omitted during prior revisions to the noise ordinance; the exemption mirrors practices in neighboring communities and acknowledges that golf clubs traditionally begin work early to prepare greens for play. Maker said clubs try to be considerate by starting work toward the center of their properties and moving outward so noise impacts on neighboring homes are minimized.
The board voted to set the public hearing for the Sept. 18, 2024 Town Board meeting.
