The Clerk announced the bid opening and then read the submissions. One bid listed items 1–16 with a subtotal of $695,000 plus a mobilization/demobilization line of $5,000, for a stated total of $700,000. Another bidder submitted a total of $896,789.24. Mark Jones Enterprise submitted $816,803.98; Griffin Brothers submitted $876,657.27; and Dale Construction Company submitted $786,595.20. The Clerk confirmed that bidders included required documents such as bid bonds and addendum paperwork where applicable.
Staff noted some variation in how bidders listed line items and discussed which figure to use as the official recorded total for comparison. The Clerk also recommended inclusion of addendum 1 and addendum 2 in the bid record and confirmed that at least one bidder included a bid bond and required schedules.
"We're hoping to do an award, at the end of the month, which will be the last meeting of June is when we'll take it for the board of commissioners to do an award," the Clerk said, announcing the county's planned schedule for considering an award.
A staff member thanked those who submitted proposals and outlined next steps: county staff will compile the submissions, prepare the necessary paperwork and resolution, and send an award notice after the Board of Commissioners considers and approves the recommendation. "Thank you so much for everybody that put in a bid. And we will type this up and let you know the award once the board of commission approves," the staff member said.
No award was made at the bid opening; the county said it intends to present an award recommendation to the Board of Commissioners at its last meeting in June. Bidders were recorded as having submitted paperwork and bonds as noted; staff will follow up with successful respondents after formal board action.
