Resident urges protection of waterfront refuge during Ridgefield plan update

"I'm hoping that [the EIS] includes the waterfront and the impact on the refuge. That's a huge draw to this town," the resident said, adding that the plan as drawn shows "a hotel sitting right on top of the Osprey Nest" and "apartments 100 foot to a 150 foot setback from Cardi Lake."
The commenter said they moved to Ridgefield after visiting the refuge and asked the commission and other bodies to consider residents’ concerns about density and proximity of structures to the lake and nesting habitat. The resident said they would be speaking with others in the community and appreciated the city staff mentioning the EIS repeatedly during the presentation.
Planning staff did not provide a point-by-point response to the specific development concerns in the public comment during the meeting; staff reiterated that Ridgefield adopts the county’s EIS by reference and that staff and consultants will complete local analysis after the county’s final EIS is issued.
The meeting record shows the commission closed public comment after that remark and continued with staff reports and routine business.
