The chair reported the commission still needs to check two known cemetery locations — including one that appears to be on private property — and will coordinate site visits to confirm whether burial plots are on commission-owned land or on private lots. The chair said a third cemetery on Weldon Springs Road will be discussed with the historic committee that includes partners in Weldon Springs and O'Fallon as well as the Saint Charles Historic Society and local law‑enforcement contacts.
Commissioners also discussed a state grant that requires finished text and photos and mentioned a submission deadline in late June. “The deadline is… the 26th for the grant,” the chair said, and described follow-up steps: preparing brochures (about 20 preprinted copies), submitting them for state review, and then moving through a July review process and a projected August final approval.
There was no formal vote on cemetery actions at the meeting; commissioners agreed to schedule site visits, to coordinate with local partners and to prepare required brochure materials for the grant application.
