Council hears streets update: Bentley Run stabilization done, millings plan approved and parking changes discussed

Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips told Union City Borough Council that Bentley Run Stabilization work is complete except for topsoil and seeding, which he said would be finished the following day, and that Cross Paving and Suit-Kote work on the 2024 paving projects is complete.
Council discussed the disposition of millings from the recent paving work. Union Township agreed to truck millings to their location and grind them; the borough will send one load to Evergreen Cemetery as previously approved. The American Legion requested 2–3 loads for a ballfield driveway; Councilor Osborn moved to approve supplying the requested loads and Councilor Matt Joyce seconded the motion, which the minutes record as carried unanimously.
The council also discussed proposed changes to the parking ordinance, including altering front-end parking in Municipal Lot #2. Police Chief David Pernice provided information on license plate readers, noting the system can search plates and assist investigations; the council asked Streets Supervisor Phillips to review the lot layout for angled parking.
