Committee backs $220,209.50 Greenways grant application for Coventry Park pedestrian connection

An agency official said PennDOT required the township to provide a trail connection to the intersection as part of signalized intersection improvements; staff described the project as connecting a currently dead-end trail inside Coventry Park so pedestrians can access the signal at New 2nd Street and Coventry Road. The official said the project would address a missing link and improve safety and accessibility for park users.
The committee asked for details; staff said Joe Stucker had been working on the project and that plans existed though the staff presenter on the call said she did not have full details at the microphone. With no objections from commissioners or residents on the call, the committee moved and approved recommending the board adopt the resolution to submit the grant application.
Next steps: Staff will finalize the application materials and submit them under the township’s name; if funded, the grant would support design and construction of the pedestrian connection.
