Commissioners approve Ag Extension budget, supplemental appropriations and a courthouse transfer agreement

The board opened the required public hearing, received no public comment on the district budget, and adopted Order 2026‑24 to approve the district budget for FY2027.
Jamie Berger, county budget manager, then reviewed resolution 2026‑23 to adopt supplemental appropriations for the current fiscal year. Berger said the Cook County School Fund had received additional SRS and REA in‑lieu receipts totaling $242,000 that the county must pass through to the district, and the fairgrounds fund needed an additional $136,000 from a combination of fund balance, donations and interest to complete current projects. The board opened and closed the hearing and approved the supplemental budget resolution.
Later in the meeting county counsel/staff presented a transfer agreement (noted as OJD contract number 250090) memorializing the transfer of certain personal property for the justice center. Staff said that when fully executed, the agreement would result in the county receiving over $800,000 in value. The board moved, seconded and approved the transfer agreement.
What happens next: the budgets take effect per the county fiscal calendar; the transfer agreement will be finalized by signature and recorded consistent with the contract number presented.
