Council authorizes temporary VFW lease to house senior-center programs during renovations

The Enumclaw City Council adopted Resolution 18-78 on May 11, authorizing the mayor to execute a second amendment to the city's lease with VFW Post 1949 so the city can temporarily relocate senior-center services during renovations.
Parks staff reported the amendment would provide exclusive weekday occupancy of the VFW Hall from June 1 through Sept. 30, 2026 (with two preexisting rentals excepted), and would include a $6,800 payment to the VFW that the parks project will absorb in its budget. Staff also said small accessibility upgrades will be made at the VFW and covered by the same project budget. "This will ensure that we accommodate senior center programming, accessibility requirements, operational needs, and other considerations during the temporary relocation period," the parks report said.
The measure passed on a council motion and voice vote. Committee review recommended approval and council moved to adopt the resolution without amendment.
