At the June 2 meeting of the Waterboro Town Council, town staff provided several operational updates and councilors handled routine business items.
Staff member (speaker 5) told the council that framing of the new public-works garage is almost complete and that mechanical and electrical work is in progress; staff estimated completion in August. The same staff member said the town is preparing paving estimates and has met with vendors about CIP projects; ceiling work associated with the HVAC project likely would not occur before September even if equipment is ordered in June.
The council received a staffing update: the town’s evening contract deputy, Markelos, is scheduled to finish on June 5 and the position was being posted. Staff and councilors also said the cemetery committee would need volunteers to raise and repair headstones; Angela was mentioned as a potential volunteer lead.
Staff reminded the council that in-person voting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at town hall and that transfers and adjustments will be placed on the June 16 agenda. Chair noted that RSU 57 had signed an agreement and that deeds and the property-tax interest-waiver notice were listed among items needing signature for posting.
The council moved, seconded and approved acceptance of the May 19 meeting minutes and adjourned after taking routine actions.
The meeting record contains these operational updates and procedural actions; details such as contractor schedules, posting dates and volunteer coordination were discussed for follow up by staff.
