Commissioners discussed the need to ensure the amendments public-notice and posting requirements are met; staff emphasized the process is more involved than a simple property posting and said the law bureau will advise on the precise steps. After discussion, a motion to move the amendment forward was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The commission did not adopt the ordinance at the meeting; planning staff said the item will return after public notice and a formal hearing. The next procedural step is the scheduling of the public hearing and the formal receipt of public comment, after which the commission will consider any revisions or a final recommendation to city council.
