Director Michael said staff previously reviewed state changes and prepared a draft ordinance, but HCD’s follow‑up identified additional issues in the current municipal code; as a result, staff has reworked the draft and will bring a revised ordinance back to the commission on June 18. He described the June 18 meeting as the next opportunity to return the item to the commission and noted that the July 2 meeting has been canceled because it is too close to the July 4 holiday.
The director framed the upcoming work as a fresh effort to align the local ordinance with state law and said staff will publish the revised document prior to the next meeting for review. No vote was taken; the update is informational and instructs staff scheduling and further drafting.
