Farragut approves $34,006 in upgrades to McPhee Park dog-park project, keeping it under budget

The Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved three change orders for the McPhee Park dog-park project on May 28, upgrading key materials and adding decorative fencing.
Ronald Scribe, the town’s parks and recreation director, said Change Order 1 replaces specified PVC storm structures with precast concrete; Change Order 2 substitutes concrete infill for stone in retaining walls to strengthen the walls and increase adhesive surface for caps; and Change Order 3 adds a decorative fence at the park’s front where the original specs included chain link. The combined cost of the three change orders is $34,006.66, bringing the revised contract amount to $671,916. Scribe noted the project remains $201,072 under its original budget.
Staff recommended approval and the board voted in favor. Vice Mayor Meyer commented positively that keeping the project under budget was a good outcome.
The change orders will be executed under the existing contract and staff will report on construction progress to the board.
