Town administrator reports improving E. coli tests after sewer leak near North Fork Turkey Creek

Town Administrator David told the Board of Mayor and Aldermen on May 28 that the town has been reviewing its response to a sewer leak that originated at a FUD property and that staff have begun planning remediation steps with FUD and state agencies.
"FUD has been posting all of their data. They've been doing daily E. coli testing along different parts of North Fork Turkey Creek," David said, reporting that recent rains have helped lower measured levels but that officials are not yet ready to remove warning signs and barriers.
David said the town is in communication with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) and will continue internal after-action work to improve response for future calls to the trunk line. He added the town hopes to accelerate creek remediation but said formal discussions with FUD and state agencies are still pending.
Board members asked whether FUD would commit to repairs to destroyed areas and how the town will ensure public safety and restoration. David said TWRA and TDEC would be heavily involved in any fish-restocking or habitat work and that further meetings with FUD are planned.
