The Town Board of New Windsor voted to authorize submission of an FY2027 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application proposing improvements to the New Windsor senior center, known as the Maresco Center, including installation of a backup generator, kitchen upgrades and repair of the sewer lateral.
Supervisor Steve Beddetti opened the public hearing on the CDBG opportunity and introduced Quinn Larky of MHE Engineering DPC, who described the application process and noted that applications are due June 12. After no comments from the public, the board moved to close the hearing and authorized the supervisor to submit the application and certify compliance with the Orange County Urban County Consortium CDBG guidelines and applicable federal, state and local laws.
The board approved the motion by roll call. The authorization directs the town to proceed with the application and, if awarded CDBG funds, to implement the activities in compliance with governing regulations. Beddetti said the immediate priority is kitchen work this year, with additional center improvements hoped for next year.
Votes at a glance: the motion to submit the FY2027 CDBG application passed unanimously on roll call.
Next steps: the town will finalize and file the application by the stated deadline and, if awarded funds, will administer the project through the town’s standard procurement and oversight processes.
