Sanilac County commissioners approve $289,672.94 in claims, adopt GIS fee schedule and approve jail repairs

The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners on June 2 approved a slate of routine financial and operational items, including payment of $289,672.94 in accounts payable, several 2026 budget amendments, adoption of a GIS data fee schedule and two facility-related items for county public safety.
The board voted to approve payment of claims listed on the accounts payable report dated May 26, 2026, after a motion moved by Commissioner Bill Sarkella and seconded by Commissioner Christine Lee; the motion carried. The approved payment total was $289,672.94.
In separate action the board approved FA-082-26, a package of 2026 budget amendments moved by Commissioner Sarkella and seconded by Commissioner Gary Heberling. The amendments included a $500 increase in sales proceeds (account 662-334-642.000) offset by a $500 adjustment to vehicle corrections, reallocation of $5,000 between contingency and Soldiers/Sailors expense lines, and wage-line adjustments moving $5,150 into temporary wages and overtime accounts. The board also established several accounts, including payables for drain projects and due-to-school and material recovery lines.
The board adopted the Sanilac County GIS Map/Data Fee Schedule (FA-083-26). The schedule sets parcel extract minimums and per-parcel fees (parcel extracts: $30 minimum plus $0.25 per parcel; per-parcel digital format $0.30/parcel with a $30 minimum) and lists countywide dataset prices both with and without redistribution rights (for example, countywide data without redistribution rights listed at $7,500 and with redistribution rights at $15,000). The adopted schedule includes a disclaimer that Sanilac County does not verify the accuracy of GIS data and prohibits redistribution without the county's written consent.
The board also approved FA-084-26, authorizing the Sheriff's Office to dispose of a 2020 Ford Interceptor utility vehicle (VIN ending in 97514) with 116,400 miles, with proceeds to be deposited into the Sheriff's Office police vehicle fund. The motion was moved by Commissioner Sarkella and seconded by Commissioner Evans Ehardt and carried.
Finally, the board authorized immediate replacement of the three-pump manifold system at the county jail by Lakeshore Improvements at a cost not to exceed $39,826.53, to be paid from the inmate commissary fund (FA-085-26). That motion was moved by Commissioner Sarkella and seconded by Commissioner John Moody and carried.
All motions were recorded in the minutes as "motion carried." The meeting adjourned at 1:59 p.m.
