Leland, the city’s environmental coordinator, credited with stopping illegal RV sewage discharge

Leland, the city’s environmental coordinator, was introduced and praised by a staff member for his work overseeing the city’s environmental programs and pretreatment efforts. The staff member said Leland began his career as a water treatment plant operator, later worked as an engineering technician and now oversees environmental aspects of city operations.
The staff member said the city had a recent problem with "an RV that was discharging sewage in the city, which is currently not allowed." The staff member credited Leland with locating the site, contacting the property owner who was unaware of the activity, and coordinating with that owner to take "corrective action and prevent that from happening in the future." The staff member called him a "Great employee, great addition to the team, takes the job very seriously, and and really steps up to the plate when the opportunity presents itself for him to to make a difference within our community."
Leland spoke about his approach to the job, saying, "I love public service." He noted he "served in the United States Army" and comes from a family with a history of public service. He said he is focused on "improving the lives of the residents" while ensuring fiscal responsibility and providing the best service possible. On why he is passionate about the work, Leland said, "So what happens in the environment is also gonna affect us."
The staff member closed the introduction by reiterating that Leland is "committed, outgoing, driven, really puts the community 1st and understands that he's here to make a difference and he does that every day."
