Charlestown EAC schedules PFAS/PFOS well‑water presentation June 20 and testing workshop June 23

The Charlestown Township Environmental Advisory Committee on April 13 scheduled two public events to help residents understand well water quality and PFAS contamination.
Beth Yount of Penn State University Extension will present a community education session on June 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the township community meeting room titled “What residents need to know about their well water, and introduction to PFAS/PFOS.” The committee recorded the session time as 6:30 p.m. (presentation listing also notes 6 p.m. as a location start time in the minutes); the EAC will promote the talk in its Nature News and township newsletter.
Penn State will also host a hands‑on PFAS well‑water testing workshop on June 23 at 1 p.m. Registration is required and the minutes state that the first 20 Charlestown residents who rely on wells or cisterns for drinking water will be admitted. Meg Solomon will send a safe drinking water flyer to the EAC email list and will share registration details once Penn State opens sign-ups.
The committee framed these events as part of community education and outreach on drinking-water contaminants. The June workshop will prioritize residents who use private wells or cisterns; interested residents should watch the township announcements for registration instructions.
