OCOEE, Fla. — The Boys & Girls Clubs announced plans for a new multi-phase facility near Ocoee that officials said will fill a gap in after-school services for local middle- and high-school students.
Mac Reed, chief impact officer, said the "brand new" branch will open in August 2026. "It's going to be a 20,000 square foot facility, 10,000 devoted to our youth, our elementary age members, 10,000 devoted to our teens," Reed said, and described programming that will include STEM, robotics, a dance studio and tutoring.
Reed said the club expects to serve about 250 to 300 children per day and plans a grand-opening celebration on Sept. 24. Amber Shaw lehi, the site coordinator for the Ocoee Middle School program, described the current after-school program (about 150–200 daily attendance) and said the new facility will provide a closer high-school–level option for Ocoee families who now travel farther for teen services.
Why it matters: Commissioners and staff said the facility will expand safe after-school space, create continuity from middle to high school programming, and support local families who otherwise travel outside the city for similar services.
What happens next: Reed invited commissioners to tour the site and said the organization is nearing plans approval and expects ground breaking to start as Phase 2 funding becomes available.
