Butler County accepts mold-mitigation bid for highway building, seeks engineering for Prague Highway Bridge

Highway Superintendent Randy Isham said the county received an NDWEE grant that will reimburse $6,473; with $50,000 budgeted for the project, the remaining county share after the grant reimbursement will be approximately $31,498.
Isham also told the board that Bridge # C001202225 (Prague Highway Bridge) has layers of the deck starting to separate and recommended preliminary engineering. He estimated a full repair from below could cost between $100,000 and $150,000; the board voted to solicit informal bids for preliminary engineering work.
Moved by Krafka and seconded by Vandenberg, the board accepted the Bockman Inc. bid and later approved solicitation of engineering bids. Both actions passed on roll-call votes with all present voting Aye.
Why it matters: the mold-mitigation contract addresses an immediate building-safety and health concern at county highway facilities. The Prague Highway Bridge engineering solicitation begins a process that could lead to a costly structural repair project.
