Brunswick commission reappoints preservation members, adds two to downtown authority and fills pension advisory seat

The Brunswick City Commission moved through a slate of volunteer appointments on June 30, approving reappointments and new members across several advisory bodies.
The commission reappointed Josh Dukes and Dolores Polite to the Historic Preservation Board after a short presentation from a candidate and praise from commissioners for prior service. "We appreciate all that you've done since I've been a commissioner," the chair said when recognizing the appointees.
Whitney Herndon and Ryan Toler addressed the commission in support of their DDA appointments. Herndon described six years on the downtown board and neighborhood merchant outreach; Toler, a downtown resident and small-business owner, highlighted walking-school safety and downtown revitalization efforts. A motion to appoint both Herndon and Toler to the Downtown Development Authority passed by show of hands.
The commission also appointed Lejeda Banfield to the Pension Advisory Committee to fill the expiring term of Devani(n) Williams; the motion passed unanimously by voice/show of hands. The chair thanked all volunteers and noted these are unpaid, civic-service roles.
All appointment motions were moved and seconded on the record and carried without recorded nays.
