Brunswick approves $80,000 Glynn County contribution for senior center operations

David Bravo presented an intergovernmental agreement on behalf of the senior center, asking the commission to accept a county allocation of $80,000 to support daily operations and staff.
"The allocation is for $80,000," Bravo said, summarizing the county's offer to fund services and staff for senior-center operations that serve both city and county residents. He said the center serves about 70–80 seniors daily and provides meals, activities and adult care services.
Commissioners asked whether the agreement covers fiscal year 2026 and whether Glynn County intends to fund FY27; staff answered that the county indicated a preference for one-year agreements and said the city will go through the same annual budgetary process if future funding is requested.
A motion to approve the intergovernmental agreement carried by a show of hands; staff said funds would be received within about 30 days after execution so they can be added to the senior center’s budget line.
Commissioners and attendees thanked county and city staff for negotiating the partnership and expressed hope it will continue beyond the current fiscal year.
