City Manager Roy Atkinson reported several personnel and planning updates at the Oct. 17 Chelsea City Council meeting.
Atkinson said Adrianna Jordan, the newly hired Community Development Director, will start Monday, Oct. 24. He thanked Jamie Gorenflo and Hunter Whitehill of McKenna and Associates for interim planning work. Atkinson also said Chief Kazyak is scheduled to start next Monday and thanked Interim Chief Kinsey for his service as interim police chief. Atkinson said he will interview two candidates for the Finance Director position next week.
Interim Chief Kinsey introduced Police Officer Kraig Dalton and provided a monthly report on calls for service, traffic concerns at lights, and overnight parking enforcement; Kinsey said the department will issue tickets where overnight parking is prohibited.
Interim Planner Jamie Gorenflo briefed council on planning matters: the Wolf Land Development is awaiting feedback from Lima Township; Heritage Farms is moving forward after MI Homes signed a purchase agreement for remaining phases; Gestamp has plans for a multi-phase expansion; Westchester Farms will be on the upcoming Planning Commission agenda; a special land use was requested for a state‑licensed daycare in the office building behind the Mobile station; Amy Collins requested a special use for a second-floor space in the Clocktower building; Biggby applied for a drive‑thru variance; developer Jess Spike has started construction on projects; and the Rockwell building may soon be approved for grant funds.
Council members also reported on recent meetings and community events, including recycling authority updates, a Styrofoam recycling event, a fire department open house, dog‑park improvements funded by neighbors, and Veterans Day activities.
