Chelsea council appoints two to Zoning Board of Appeals and tables Family Court proclamation request

The Chelsea City Council on Oct. 17 appointed Jasen King and George Kinzer to three-year terms on the Zoning Board of Appeals, with both motions passing unanimously.
The appointments were made during the council business portion of the meeting; each motion was approved 'All Ayes.' The terms expire Sept. 30, 2025.
Separately, a proclamation request submitted by Chelsea resident Kristine McCullen on behalf of One Mom’s Battle and the Family Court Awareness Month Committee was discussed. Council members said they needed additional information from the requestor and voted to table the proclamation until the next council meeting.
During public comment, County Commissioner and State Senate candidate Sue Shink also addressed council and asked for residents’ support; resident Gaye Morgenthaler raised concerns about candidate signs she said were placed inside Veterans Park and said a surveyor verified the signs were on her property.
No formal policy or proclamation was adopted at the meeting; the council will revisit the proclamation request after the requester provides additional information.
