Members of the Windham Economic Development Committee on May 8 discussed steps to boost local commerce through a Promote Windham effort tied loosely to America 250 activities. Dale Valvo said the departure of longtime promotions lead DJ Withee “left a hole,” and the group agreed to retool its approach and aim promotions toward July with more concentrated outreach.
Paul Brozo said organizers would focus on business appreciation and getting residents into local stores; the committee agreed it could provide banners or flags to participating businesses and would create promotional materials. Paul Brozo volunteered to draft a flyer, Shariq Yousfi offered to assemble a starter list of businesses in a shared Google Sheet, and Cheryl Haas and Jennifer Simmons agreed to help with outreach logistics. Jeff Murphy said the Southern New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce could add participating businesses to the Chamber website, and the Windham Neighborly Connection Facebook page was cited as another listing resource. Cheryl Haas said she would investigate a dedicated email address for the effort and noted WEDC members should use official Windham NH email accounts for correspondence.
The committee also noted upcoming speaker events (a business-plan and taxes session originally scheduled for June 1, later rescheduled to June 24, and a Sept. 22 session on succession/exit planning) and discussed promotion, refreshments and modest speaker gift cards.
