Stilwell council approves consent agenda items, including payroll, insurance payment and grant application; Second Street Project tabled

At its June 1 meeting the Stilwell City Council approved its consent agenda covering minutes, purchase orders ($71,906), payroll ($255,004.64), budget adjustments totaling $63,598, a $51,469 annual insurance payment to OMAG, and authorization for a $71,640 Community Fire Assistance Grant application (requiring $89,550 city commitment); the Second Street Project was tabled.
The Stilwell City Council approved a multi-item consent agenda June 1 that included routine financial and administrative items and authorized a grant application requiring a local commitment.
The consent agenda vote (mover: Council member Lane Kindle; second: Council member Barrett Harris) carried 4-0. Items approved included minutes from May meetings; blanket purchase orders totaling $71,906; claims including $242,928.26 from the General Fund; May 2026 payroll totaling $255,004.64; a motion to name the remodeled stage at Adair Park the "Marilyn Hill Music Pavilion"; authorization for a Hispanic Street Festival on Sept. 12, 2026 (final times and street-closing requests to be submitted later); several FY 2025–2026 budget adjustments totaling $63,598 across multiple funds; the annual property insurance payment of $51,469 to OMAG; and authorization to apply for a Community Fire Assistance Grant of $71,640 with an 80/20 reimbursement rate that would require an $89,550 local commitment from the Capital Improvement - Fire Department account.
The council also approved a purchase authorization for fencing materials from AAA Fencing for up to $15,000 to build dumpster enclosures at Carson Park, the Community Building and the Library and scheduled a public hearing (with the Stilwell Improvement Authority) on the Proposed FY 2026–2027 budget for June 11, 2026.
Separately under Old Business the council voted to table the Second Street Project (motion by Barrett Harris). The council also approved the FY 2025 financial audit by Michael Green, CPA.
What this means: The consent approvals move multiple routine purchases, payroll and insurance charges forward and authorize staff to pursue a significant fire-station improvement grant that will require a municipal capital commitment. The Second Street Project will remain on hold pending further action.
