Atkinson committee reschedules police-station site walkthrough, approves minutes and reviews town parcels

The Town of Atkinson Police Station Location Committee postponed a planned walkthrough of four candidate sites on April 15 because of thunderstorms and rescheduled the visit for April 22, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., according to the meeting record.

The meeting opened at 5:30 p.m. and recorded members present as Brian Boyle (Chair), Phil Busby, Charlie George, Lenny Hall, Wendy Barker (Selectmen’s Representative) and Greg Spero (Selectmen’s Representative). Member Lenny Hall moved to accept the April 1, 2025 minutes as written; Greg Spero seconded. The motion passed unanimously, 6-0-0.

Committee members reported back on communications and outstanding action items from the prior meeting and re-reviewed town-owned parcels that had been on the committee’s earlier recommendation list. Members discussed selling small, non-buildable lots to abutters and continuing to investigate ways to sell miscellaneous town-owned property.

Committee members raised financing as a topic for next steps, noting the need to fund engineering and site-preparation work. Member Phil Busby provided detailed site plans for the proposed locations to help the committee determine whether to continue considering or eliminate locations under review. The committee also recorded that a public notice seeking offers to purchase town property had been posted on April 2 and that no responses had been received as of the April 15 meeting.

The committee set its next meeting for April 22, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
