The Columbus County Board of Commissioners on April 20 approved low bids and authorized notices to proceed for voluntary acquisition and demolition of three flood‑damaged residential structures under a FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA 2020) grant.
Planning Director Bridgette Spann presented the bids: 1833 Clarendon Chadbourn Road to 4 Seasons Demolition for $14,300; 638 Water Tank Road to 4 Seasons Demolition for $23,500 (including asbestos abatement); and 893 Water Tank Road to Barfield Backhoe for $10,700. Commissioner Ricky Bullard moved to approve the low bids and Commissioner Giles Byrd seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The project is grant‑funded and covers voluntary acquisition and demolition of substantially damaged structures in identified flood‑prone areas; the board authorized staff to issue notices to proceed to the low bidders.
