Dodge County commissioners approve slate of appointments, financial resolutions

The board unanimously approved $153,081.35 in accounts payable. Commissioner Sharon Cobb Flanagan moved to approve the accounts payable report and Commissioner Jeffrey Jones seconded; all commissioners voted in favor.
The board approved multiple appointments. Commissioner Brian Watkins moved to appoint Attorney John Harrington as county legal counsel, with Attorney Ron Daniels as co-counsel; Commissioner Sharon Cobb Flanagan seconded and the motion passed. The commissioners appointed Frank Erwin, CPA, as county auditor with the condition that the audit be completed by June 15, 2025, and liquidated damages of $200 per day if the audit is late. Conner Bearden was appointed county manager by acclamation after a nomination from Commissioner Leigh Ann Greene; Kimberly Smith-Parkerson was appointed county clerk by acclamation following a nomination from Commissioner Greene.
The board also approved an order appointing Doris S. Mullis to the Dodge County Board of Tax Assessors for a term beginning Jan. 1, 2025, and expiring Dec. 31, 2027.
Separately, the board passed resolutions to create restricted bank accounts for the Tax Commissioner’s office: “Timber Tax” and “Current Year Taxes” at Colony Bank, and “Sales Tax Escrow” and “Back Tax Account” at Magnolia State Bank, with Jacqueline ("Jackie") Smith and Windy Gibson designated as the two signatories. The board voted to remove a prior elector, Kay Graham, from the Tax Commissioner’s banking accounts.
All of the motions recorded in the minutes passed unanimously or by acclamation; no dissenting votes or abstentions are recorded. The meeting adjourned at 6:53 p.m.
