Montgomery County court adopts second-reading budget amendments for 2025–26

The Montgomery County Fiscal Court approved second-reading budget amendments for the 2025–26 fiscal year during its Sept. 15 meeting, the court president announced.

Court members voted by voice to adopt amendments that the record describes as adjustments to unanticipated revenue and corresponding expenditure lines across multiple funds, including the general (department) fund, the jail fund, the L.G.A. fund, the road fund and the health and civic center fund. The second reading was moved, seconded and carried on a voice vote.

The court’s readout on Sept. 15 lists an unanticipated decrease in prior-year surplus revenue for the department/general fund of $94,864.75 and corresponding expenditure adjustments. The jail fund line and several other figures in the record are transcribed unclearly; the court stated an unanticipated revenue change in the jail fund and increased jail fund expenditures during the same adjustment process.

The road fund adjustment was read as unanticipated revenue from prior-year surplus of $623,951.39 with equal increases in road fund expenditures, and the health and civic center fund showed a decrease from surplus of $32,628.51 and corresponding expenditure reductions, according to the court’s readout. Where the meeting transcript contains garbled numeric text, the court’s official minutes and posted ordinance text should be consulted for final, certified amounts.

Presiding officials did not read ordinance numbers in the on-record second reading; the motion to adopt the second reading was made and seconded and the court approved the ordinances by voice vote. The court also received the treasurer’s report and later moved to approve county bills for September by voice vote.

The court said new business would be tabled until the next regular meeting, and adjourned after routine closing remarks.
