Board approves $2,000 ‘early‑tell’ incentive for certificated staff and similar incentive for hard‑to‑fill classified roles

The Lemon Grove School District board on Feb. 10 approved two memoranda of understanding designed to encourage staff to provide early notice of planned retirements or resignations to aid spring recruiting.

Superintendent Vincent described the certificated agreement (with the Lemon Grove Teachers Association) as a one‑time $2,000 incentive for any certificated employee who files a voluntary retirement or resignation notice between Feb. 10 and March 20. "This will help us recruit for those open positions and fill those open positions for planned retirements or resignations," Vincent said. Trustee Presci moved approval; Trustee Smith seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

A separate early‑tell effort for classified staff was presented for hard‑to‑fill positions — custodians, maintenance, media specialists and school secretaries. Vincent said this is the first time the district has offered a classified early‑tell incentive, aimed at positions where the district expects recruitment difficulty. The board approved that motion after a second from Trustee Miller.

Both approvals were formal action items on the agenda and passed without recorded dissent. District staff said they will notify eligible employees via email and HR channels and will coordinate with site leaders to support timely recruiting for the 2026–27 school year.
